Davao del Sur State College concluded its 7th Founding Anniversary on February 21, 2026, with a series of activities held at the College Gymnasium. The day began with a motorcade and a Holy Mass, followed by the Culmination Day and Awarding Ceremony attended by faculty members, staff, students, partners, and invited guests.
Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Siverlyn M. Camposano delivered the opening remarks, noting the importance of shared responsibility in sustaining institutional progress. College President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes followed with a message centered on continuity, discipline in governance, and steady development aligned with the College’s mandate.
Guest speaker DepEd Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” M. Angara, was represented by Regional Director Allan G. Farnazo. Key points from the Secretary’s message included: the shared responsibility of education across sectors, the role of communities in shaping learning outcomes and the importance of collective contribution to institutional growth.
One statement from the Secretary stood out during the program. He said, “Ang hamon sa edukasyon ay hindi para sagutin kung ano ang nauna, ang manok o itlog. Because education is a product of a village, it is everybody’s business. Everyone must form part on what they can contribute best.”
In response, RD Farnazo added, “The village of DSSC is already big.” affirming that the College has steadily built a strong and expanding network of partners, stakeholders, and community members who share responsibility in advancing its academic mission and development goals.
The ceremony also included a presentation of institutional milestones and recognition of partners from various offices, including International Affairs and Relations, Research Development and Innovation, Extension and Community Relations, and Business and Enterprise Development. Administrative partners were likewise acknowledged for their contributions.
The event ended when Dr. Luciano D. Nasibog Jr., Vice President for Administration and Finance, delivered his final statement. He expressed gratitude to all partner agencies and stakeholders and academic community members who maintained their trust and worked together with the organization. He emphasized that partnership maintenance serves as essential to the College because shared dedication between entities enables them to fulfill their institutional mission and deliver community service.
The culmination activity supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 on Quality Education through institutional accountability and continuous improvement. It also reflects Sustainable Development Goal 17 on Partnerships for the Goals by reinforcing collaboration among the College, government agencies, and community stakeholders.
As DSSC marked seven years of service, the ceremony focused less on celebration and more on reaffirming the shared responsibility that sustains education within and beyond the campus.
