As part of its 7th Founding Anniversary celebration, Davao del Sur State College conducted a series of activities on February 14, 2026, bringing together graduate students, faculty members, and alumni in events held at the Mini Theater and the DSSC Gymnasium.
The day began with the Graduate Research Appreciation and Professional Development Workshop 2026 at the Mini Theater. The workshop focused on research standards and academic publishing. Topics included strategies for international publication and ethical practices in academic writing, including guidance related to Scopus-indexed journals.
Muhammad ‘Azmi Nuha, MPd of Universitas Islam Negeri Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon of Indonesia, joined the session online to discuss standards and strategies for international publication. Dr. Rogelio P. Bayod, Research and Publication Director of North Valley College Foundation, Inc., delivered a lecture on ethics in academic publishing and provided guidance on preparing manuscripts for indexed journals. The workshop served as a reference for graduate students and faculty members engaged in research and publication.
Grad Fest 2026 was held at the DSSC Gymnasium in the afternoon. The program included remarks from Graduate School Student Council President Annalona O. Erediano and a message from College President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes. Activities included student presentations, recognition of teachers, games, raffle draws, and the election of officers. The gathering provided graduate students an opportunity to meet and participate in activities outside the classroom setting.
The Alumni Homecoming followed at the same venue in the evening. Alumni from various batches returned to the campus for a program that included welcome messages, a panel discussion titled “From Campus to Career,” awarding of certificates, dinner, and fellowship activities. The event also featured alumni engagement activities and socialization.
The February 14 activities formed part of the week-long anniversary celebration of the College. They reflect continued efforts in research development, student engagement, and alumni relations within the institution.
The events relate to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) through research and academic development and Sustainable Development Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through alumni engagement and institutional collaboration.
