Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) has formalized two (2) new partnerships through signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during the Enhancing Laboratory Capability for Advanced Research and Scientific Services Workshop, held today at the DSSC Mini-Theatre. The agreements were signed with the Ateneo de Davao University-Chemistry Department and the Philippine Science High School Davao Region Campus.
The MoUs aim to expand DSSC’s research network, improve laboratory-based instruction, and cultivate collaborative projects in scientific services. DSSC was represented by the College President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes during the signing alongside pertinent representatives from partner institutions, witnessed by faculty members, researchers and guests from the institutional partners.
The workshop was organized by the DSSC Research Center for Emerging Pollutants (RCEP) Team in partnership with DOST PCIEERD’s RIEETOOL and the Research and Laboratory Services Center, providing the setting for the agreements.
Dr. Jonel P. Saludes, the resource speaker, led workshops on the latest trends in research that takes place in labs, building infrastructure, and coming up with research ideas. In the afternoon, the focus was on making sure that institutional priorities were in line with national scientific and technical services. This was in keeping with the essence of cooperation that was emphasized during the signing of the MoUs.
By establishing these relationships, DSSC enhances its laboratory capabilities and expands chances for staff and students to participate in advanced research.
The signing of the MoUs marked the highlight of the first day of the two-day workshop, continuing on January 16 to further build institutional capacity through technical sessions and collaborative activities.
Through these initiatives, DSSC supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), underscoring its commitment to research excellence and collaborative development.
