Davao del Sur State College formally opened the Davao del Sur Innovation Hub on February 20, 2026 at its Main Campus, marking the establishment of a new facility dedicated to research, technology development, and enterprise support.
The ceremony proceeded in the afternoon despite heavy rain earlier in the day. Faculty members, administrators, partners, and guests gathered for the blessing and ribbon-cutting activity that signaled the start of the hub’s operations.
In her message, College President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes described the Innovation Hub as a practical investment in the College’s research and development agenda. She noted that the space is intended to assist students, faculty researchers, and community partners in turning ideas into workable projects that address local needs.
Representatives from the Department of Science and Technology emphasized the value of collaboration between higher education institutions and government agencies in supporting innovation at the regional level. The project overview presented during the program explained that the hub will provide technical guidance, mentoring, and capacity-building activities for local innovators and small enterprises.
Research Development and Innovation Director Cherry Ann P. Roxas, DBA, expressed confidence that the facility will strengthen linkages among researchers, industry partners, and community groups.
The establishment of the Innovation Hub supports Sustainable Development Goal 9 on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure by building institutional capacity for research and enterprise development. It also contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth by creating support systems for local entrepreneurship and technology-driven initiatives.
With the hub now operational, the College expands its role from instruction to applied research and enterprise assistance, providing a structured space where academic knowledge can connect with community needs.
