DSSC Engages in National Dialogue on AI at CHED RAISE 2026

Davao del Sur State College took part in the Commission on Higher Education’s Responding through AI for Societal Empowerment (CHED RAISE 2026) held from February 25 to 27, 2026, at the Iloilo Convention Center in Mandurriao, Iloilo City. The College was represented by President Dr. Augie E. Fuentes, alongside Business Enterprise Office (BEO) Director, Dr. Eric B. Rellon, College of Information Digital Sciences (CIDS) Dean, Dr. Felomino Alba, and other DSSC representatives.

The activity was organized by the Commission on Higher Education in partnership with West Visayas State University, with the theme “Risking AI Education. Empowering Society”. The gathering brought together leaders from higher education institutions, government offices, and industry groups to discuss the role of artificial intelligence in academic settings.

On the preliminaries of the event, DSSC has featured one of the College’s highly recognized flagships in Income Generating Projects (IGPs), the Electronic Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS), an integrated and customizable HRMO software designed to streamline HR processes, champion a people-centric approach, and strengthen transparency in governance.

The three-day event has delivered a fruitful discussion centered on curriculum innovation, AI-driven research development, digital infrastructure readiness, faculty upskilling, and policy formulation, which ensures AI adoption will maintain academic integrity and ethical standards, and inclusive access and social responsibility. The discussion has positioned technology as a tool to enhance learning and institutional systems and the expansion of access to quality education.

The initiative has also paved the way for strengthened collaboration linkages among HEIs, government agencies, and industry partners with digital competencies, critical thinking, and ethical discernment.

Through its active involvement in CHED-RAISE 2026, DSSC recognizes the need to equip learners with digital competencies, critical thinking skills, and ethical discernment essential in an AI-enabled environment. The College reinforces its support for Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), Sustainable Development Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and Sustainable Development Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The College remains committed to advancing inclusive, technology-responsive, and future-ready education that serves both its academic community and the broader region.
