A field day carried out for Davao del Sur State College on February 20, 2026. Different colleges and extension campuses were deployed to partner communities across Davao del Sur. The activities ranged from classroom-based training to on-site agricultural demonstrations and community meetings.
In Davao del Sur, the College of Business Education and Governance (CBEG) conducted a session on ethical and inclusive leadership. On the same day, it began capacity-building work on regenerative agriculture and the use of artificial intelligence in improving key commodity crops. An orientation on internal control systems was also provided for a seaweed smallholder growers’ group.
At ODAKA San Miguel Elementary School, the College of Teacher Education (CTEd) handled skills enhancement training on food preservation under the EMPOWEREd Program. In Mati National High School, the College of Graduate and Professional Education facilitated training for educators focused on advancing competency and holistic instruction.
Work inside correctional facilities also continued. The College of Information and Digital Sciences (CIDS) met with BJMP Digos City District Jail for the FamConnect Project. The College of Agriculture and Related Sciences (CARS) sustained its LIFE Behind Bars activities, conducting training sessions on salted egg production, vertical gardening, and organic input production.
In Magsaysay and Malalag, the College of Engineering and Technology (CET) delivered technical training on the fabrication and installation of a smart solar fish dryer. Separate sessions were held on the implementation of portable biogas systems for backyard hog raisers.
Environmental and community-based initiatives were also underway. The Sta. Cruz Extension Campus organized a mangrove tree planting activity. In Talao, Sulop, the Sulop Extension Campus conducted an orientation on the INSPIRE Plus Program and sustainable hog farming practices. Meanwhile, the College of Mathematics, Arts, and Sciences (CMAS) partnered with Barangay Local Government Unit Colorado for a Building Up Learners for Inclusive Growth activity that included a children’s creative learning session and a parenting discussion.
These engagements show how extension work is carried out in practice. Faculty members and students step outside the campus to share technical knowledge, assist community groups, and respond to local needs.
The activities contribute to Sustainable Development Goal 4 on Quality Education, Sustainable Development Goal 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth, Sustainable Development Goal 13 on Climate Action, and Sustainable Development Goal 17 on Partnerships for the Goals.
On paper, it was a list of activities. On the ground, work was done in classrooms, barangay halls, farms, coastal areas, and community spaces across the province.
