Admission Requirements

Old Student

Old students may proceed directly to online enrollment subject to the clearance of their previous academic and financial obligations.

ONLINE ENROLLMENT
Freshmen

Incoming freshmen must submit the following requirements to the Admissions Office:

  • Form 138 (Senior High School Report Card)
  • Certificate of Good Moral Character
  • PSA/NSO Birth Certificate (Original and Photocopy)
  • 2 pcs 2x2 ID Pictures with white background
  • DSSC College Entrance Examination Result
Transferee

Transferees must present the following documents for evaluation:

  • Honorable Dismissal / Transfer Credentials
  • Informative Copy of Transcript of Records (TOR)
  • Certificate of Good Moral Character
Professional Schools / Juris Doctor

Applicants for Graduate Programs and Juris Doctor must coordinate directly with their respective College Deans for the specific transcript and recommendation letter requirements.

Davao del Sur State College (DSSC) utilizes the following standard grading system to evaluate student academic performance.

FHE & Institutional Scholarships

Overview

The College provides scholarships and financial assistance to qualified and deserving students. The student scholarship program of Davao del Sur State College aims to motivate students to excel both in academic and non-academic areas by providing scholarships and grants to qualified students in addition to Free Higher Education. A student shall enjoy only one government scholarship except for merit scholarships.

Institutional Grants Requirements

Any student who enjoys an institutional scholarship/grant must meet the following criteria:

  • Must have taken during the previous semester at least twenty-one (21) units or the normal load prescribed in the student’s curriculum.
  • Must be up-to-date with all non-academic requirements (PE and NSTP).
  • Must have no failing grade in any academic or non-academic subject.
Grounds for Termination

The grounds for termination of an institutional scholarship/grant include:

  • Failing grades or INC.
  • Failure to maintain the required GWA.
  • Being suspended and expelled due to disciplinary problem or scholastic deficiency based on the DSSC Student Handbook.
  • Dropping from school within the semester.

Academic Scholarships

Entrance Scholarship

A student who graduated With Highest Honors or With High Honors in the Senior High School and has passed the DSSC College Entrance Examination will be awarded an entrance scholarship.

  • With Highest Honor: Enjoy a semestral stipend of Php 5,000.00 if the student is one of the first four applicants per board program. Must carry a regular load, have no failing grade or INC, and maintain a GWA of 1.5 or better.
  • With High Honor: Enjoy a semestral stipend of Php 3,000.00 if the student is one of the first four applicants per board program. Must carry a regular load, have no failing grade or INC, and maintain a GWA of 1.75 or better.
Gaining Scholarship

Gaining Scholarship shall be applied by qualified students through the Scholarship Office and shall be awarded only to the Top 10 for the President’s List and Top 10 for the Dean’s List scholarships.

  • President’s List: Granted to any undergraduate student who obtains a GWA of 1.5 or better and no grade below 2.25 in the previous semester, entitled to a semestral stipend of Php 5,000.00.
  • Dean’s List: Granted to undergraduate students who obtain a GWA of 1.75 or better but not higher than 1.5, with no grade below 2.25 in the previous semester, entitled to a semestral stipend of Php 3,000.00.

Non-Academic Scholarships

Student Assistance (SA)

Student Assistance is given to student assistants who belong to low-income families provided the student renders work in DSSC. They serve as Student Labor with Php 35.00 per hour compensation for a maximum of 4 working hours a day.

Requirements & Priorities:

  • Application Letter noted by the head of office.
  • No failing grade and INC.
  • Certificate of Indigency/Low Income issued by DSWD or Barangay.
  • Priority is given to Indigenous People, Solo Parent Dependents, Differently-abled Persons, and marginalized sectors.
Socio-Cultural (Dance, Band, Choir)

This scholarship is given to active and talented members of the socio-cultural group who will represent DSSC in regional, Mindanao-wide, and National competitions.

  • Php 3,000 semestral stipend and free uniform during performance.
  • Must have no Failing or INC Grade and pass the screening done by the Socio-Cultural Office.
Varsity Athletes

This scholarship is given to active members of the DSSC Sports Team playing in regional, Mindanao-wide, and national sports competitions.

  • Php 3,000 semestral stipend and free sports uniform.
  • Must be 25 years old and below, enrolled in at least 12 units.
  • Must maintain a GPA of not less than 2.75. A failing grade will disqualify the scholar.
  • Five (5) absences during training/practice without valid reasons will automatically disqualify the athlete.
  • Drinking of intoxicated liquor and smoking during training and competitions are strictly prohibited.

Application & Renewal Policies

All students enjoying institutional and sponsored scholarships/grants must submit the filled-out Certification for FHE and scholarship form accompanied with the following documents:

  • Certification of Grades of the Previous Semester (with no INC or failed Grade).
  • Endorsement Form/Award Number (For sponsored scholarship only).

Handling Incomplete (INC) Grades:

  • Incomplete Grades must be complied with before the scholarship application period.
  • In case of non-compliance, a letter for reconsideration indicating the tentative date of INC completion must be submitted.
  • Failure to comply with the INC within the semester shall result in non-renewal of the grant in the next semester.

Learning Resource Center (LRC)

Overview & Services

The DSSC Learning Resource Center is the institution's center for improving and supplementing student learning, acting as a learning laboratory.

Core Services include:

  • Circulation & Reserve: Access to books complementing the curriculum, general reading, and high-demand faculty materials.
  • Virtual Library: Access to databases, web searching, productivity software, and e-mail to facilitate research.
  • Theses Assistance: A collection of undergraduate and master's theses available for inside-use only. Photocopying is not allowed without author authorization.
  • New Normal Service: Inquiries and book requests can be processed through the DSSC LRC Facebook group.
Rules & Regulations
  • Students must present their validated LRC ID upon entry.
  • Courtesy and respect shall be practiced at all times.
  • Smoking, unnecessary noise, unseemly behavior, and loud talking/laughter are strictly prohibited.
  • Mobile phones must be set to Silent Mode.
  • Eating in public service areas and littering are not authorized.

On School Days (No noon-break):

  • Monday to Friday: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

On Vacation Period (No noon-break):

  • Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Closed on Sundays and Legal Holidays.

Safety & Security

Campus Security Guidelines

The school provides a safe, accessible environment and hires licensed security personnel to ensure the safety of students. Students are also covered with Life and Accident Insurance.

  • Curfew time for students shall be observed from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
  • Student activities requiring security or the use of school facilities must secure permission from the administration and coordinate with Campus Security.
  • Dormitory occupants must present a gate pass to the guard upon check-out.
Policy in Handling School Incidents

The following steps are undertaken whenever an incident happens within the physical or virtual school environment:

  1. Any bystander shall immediately report the incident to the security guard or personnel on duty.
  2. For injuries, the Health and Safety Officer shall immediately respond with first aid. Emergency services (e.g. MDRRMC, 911) shall be contacted if necessary.
  3. The Guard on duty will make a preliminary investigation. Sites and evidence must be preserved for any probable criminal act.
  4. The Student Discipline Office (SODO) Coordinator will report the case to the police if applicable, and conduct further investigation.
